For use on both thermoforming and flat pack machines, various grades of medical papers are used as top webs to enable the sterilizing agent (gas or steam) to penetrate into the pack. However, with the irradiation sterilizing method, a film top web can alternatively be used. For gas sterilization, uncoated STERIKING® Gas Paper is normally used. Lacquered Grid Paper is recommended for certain special applications, usually on flat packaging machines.
Uncoated STERIKING® Steam Paper is suitable for all sterilization methods, but gives the best sealing result with a PP layer film.
When an especially strong package is required, STERIKING® Tyvek® grades are recommended. Wipak Medical offers a wide selection of flexible and rigid films for sealing with uncoated Tyvek® webs for more economical use.
